Holiday in George, a weekend away with Mel and kids, quick trip to CT and a big surprise...Catch up June 2024 -August 2024

Exploring the big world and growing up too quickly!

The epic sibling bath shot haha!

Hanging out with special friends, every weekend we either braai together, or go to the lake, or have dinner at Makondo camp. Special times indeed.

Joel playing with William in the garden.

Holiday time- the kids and I set off on holiday during the 2 month long 'summer holiday'. We had to spend a night in Joburg en route and it was all very exciting. We arrived late and ordered room service which was very novel.

Packets of sugar are a big deal when you come from a place with sugar shortages haha!

We arrived in George and spent a few days with the Montagues before heading off for a long weekend with Mel, Dan and Jess Beck. It was a really special time, with plenty of entertainment for the kids. Louie was especially excited about the horses and spent all his free time around them.

We got the wood fired hot tub going, had a braai, the kids went for horse rides and walks, kayaking, did arts and crafts. It was a very special weekend. Mel and I managed to have some down time to catch up too!

My baby turned a full 1 year! He had just started walking.

Tim joined us in George for about a week or so, during which time I hurt my knee again, and after that I started feeling really nauseous but I thought it was because of the pain killers I was taking. When it didn't subside we decided to rule out pregnancy as a cause...

That shocked me out of writing my blog for over a year haha!

The next couple of weeks were a bit of a blur. We went to Cape Town and I had an MRI which determined that the root attachment in my meniscus was completely severed and I had a flap tear as well as a dislocating bucket handle tear. The surgeon said he would need to remove my meniscus, but could only do that when I was at least 13 weeks pregnant which was 6 weeks away. I'd have to live with the pain until then. Being in pain and dependent on crutches with 3 busy kids is not a lot of fun. We enjoyed seeing family from both sides while in Cape Town.

Being back in George without Tim was quite tough, and I wouldn't have coped without my friends Dan and Yuri. God provides love and comfort when you need it, I really felt that.

Shel and Brent also came to George for a few days and it was so lovely to have them around. My kids adore their Aunty and she always knows what I need without me having to say anything.

First tooth!

We decided to drive to PE to see our other special friends who are like family and we just had the most wonderful time. I know #blessed is a bit corny but we really have been truly blessed to have such incredible friends.

During my time in PE, my meniscus slid back into the correct position and I made the call to not risk going under anesthetic if i could help it, so we changed our flights and headed straight home to Malawi after being away for almost 2 months! The nausea had also set in and I was tired of living out of a suitcase.
