Split family, reunion and a few days of calm before the storm Feb 2025
And so Joel and I set off for George. It felt really strange being apart from my big kids but they had a fun time with their dad, and they had their own adventure. Tim loved it too and did such an amazing job. It was a special time for them and also for me to enjoy my big baby before the little baby's arrival. I stayed with Dan and Ev who are like family to us.
After a week apart, Tim and the kids set off on their trip. They also stayed with Shel and Brent in Lilongwe en route. They flew to Cape Town to visit family there before driving to George to reunite with me and Joel.
Tim loved being a tourist in the place he grew up and took the kids to all his childhood favourites.
Special cousins
Meanwhile, in George...
Finally we were back together. I felt like I could relax a bit. Being apart at the end stage of pregnancy is always a bit scary! And we missed them a lot.
My midwife introduced me to Claire who had given birth to her boy Judah just days before Joel, and was due within days of me again with her 4th. Her eldest son and second daughter were similar ages to my kids too, so we nicknamed them our twin family. We bonded with them quickly and it was really lovely to make some new friends!
My brother Dan also ended up joining us in George! He has been living in Indonesia but had to return to renew his passport. My mom also had to renew her passport, so we had a mini family reunion.
