Christmas with Granny and Grampa, South Luangwa with the Sutherlands and Fergies and a visit from other Granny and Grampa- catchup Dec 2024- Feb 2025
The kids loved to buy veggies from the local vendors near our house, it is very handy having basics like tomatoes and onions readily available. They would ride their bikes to buy things for me.
Fun summer days.
Granny and Grampa Barrett came to visit us for Christmas, we had a lovely relaxed time with day trips to the lake and a big Christmas feast with pork belly and roast chicken.

After Christmas we set off for 2 weeks of camping in South Luangwa for some much needed bush and family time.
On new years eve we had the most incredible game drive. We saw lions, 2 separate sightings of leopards and wild dogs!
It was so special to have David and Neline camping next door to us. We did our own thing during the day because of our different schedules with the kids but met up for sundowners at the pool most evenings.
Shel, Brent and Ben came to join us on their way home from Vic Falls. We had such a fun time with them and for my kids, spending time with their cousin is always the best!
Back home after a wonderful holiday, back to our weekly braai and chill time with David and Neline, and their boys who were visiting them- Wilco and Janco (and Tayla). This is a very special family who crept into our hearts very quickly.
Lily playing with our gardeners little girl Grace. These 2 could play for hours and hours. It was such fun having friends living on the property. Grace had 2 older brothers Bless and Charles who taught Louie a few tricks with a soccer ball. In turn he taught them how to play rugby.
Lou started playing golf and really enjoyed it.
I got dressed one day and then Lils disappeared and came back dressed as my twin! (7 months pregnant)
Granny and Grampa came all the way from Cape Town to visit us. The kids were very excited to show them where we were living and what life is like in Mzuzu. It didn't take too long to show them all of our favourite spots but we enjoyed the visit and it was lovely for them to get to know Joel a bit better.
Time doesn't wait for anyone! I had to start preparing for my trip back to George to await the arrival of our new baby. My due date was 10 March but rules for flying meant that I had to go earlier. Tim and the bigger kids would come a couple of weeks after us - so I spent a few weeks building up to my departure making frozen meals for them :) One thing I did learn in Mzuzu is how to make food from scratch like pizza, pasta and schnitzels. I really enjoy cooking though so it was fun to experiment!
Last dinner with David and Neline before Joel and I left for South Africa.
Tim and the kids did some exploring around the bush close to our house while Joel and I headed off for a night in Lilongwe en route to George.
